Happy 4 (Almost)

Almost four months into my gym journey, and while the progress has been slow, I’m incredibly proud of my consistency and the changes I’m seeing in myself. I look better, feel better, and have more energy throughout my day. It’s been a transformation not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

There’s something powerful about looking back and realizing how far you’ve come. I couldn’t have made it this far without consistency, but more importantly, without the motivation and support from my friends. Progress has been slow, but it’s steady—and it’s exactly what I needed.

For those of you unsure of when to start your own journey, my advice is simple: do it when you’re ready. I knew I needed to get back into the gym, but I also knew I wasn’t in the right mindset to stay consistent at the time. Once I fully committed and was in the right headspace, everything changed. That commitment reignited my passion and drove me forward.

I’ll admit, in the beginning, I was disappointed with how much I was lifting. I had been stronger before, and it was hard not to compare myself to my past. But as I began to see progress—slowly increasing the weights I could handle—I got pumped. It wasn’t just about the numbers; it was about seeing and feeling the difference. It motivated me to keep pushing forward.

When people say “consistency is key,” they’re not wrong, but I’ve learned it’s only part of the equation. Without motivation, consistency becomes difficult. If you’re struggling to find that drive, lean into things that inspire you. For me, that means reading the Bible, talking to loved ones, and being open with my friends about how I feel. It’s about being my authentic self and staying true to what drives me.

I’m genuinely so happy with where I’m at now. The changes may be small, and this is only the beginning, but I’m already loving myself more because of this journey.

Vegas Baby

I recently went on a trip to Las Vegas, and while the main reason was a bowling tournament, I was way more excited to see my family and friends from Hawaii—and, of course, try my luck at the casino.

The tournament lasted only two days. Unfortunately, the first day was rough for me. My shot execution was way off, and I just couldn’t seem to find my groove. But on the second day, things turned around. I found my rhythm, stuck with one ball the entire time, and performed much better. A special shoutout to my friend AJ, who absolutely crushed it—bowling even better than he expected and placing 6th individually. It was great seeing him do so well!

When we weren’t at the lanes, we made the most of our time in Vegas. We had plenty of drinks, and we gambled—a lot. Sadly, my luck at the slots wasn’t the best this time around. The craps table gave me some hope, though it was a roller coaster of wins and losses. Just when I thought I was about to make a comeback, the mf 7 would show up and ruin my streak. But hey, that’s Vegas, right?

My mom, on the other hand, had a fantastic trip! She hit the royal flush on video poker and even broke the progressive pot. I was so happy to see her luck turn around.

We also indulged in some amazing food while we were there. One day, we went to the Palms Hotel for an all-you-can-eat buffet. They had lobster and crab legs, and it was 100% worth every penny. No trip to Vegas is complete without good eats, and this definitely hit the spot.

Next up is another trip to Vegas in February for a big Super Bowl weekend, my grandma’s birthday, and yet another bowling tournament. Fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly and maybe, just maybe, luck will finally be on my side.

Happy 1-Month (almost)

As I close in on nearly a month of getting back into the gym, it’s surprising how quickly time has flown by. It doesn’t even feel like it’s been that long, yet my body is definitely reminding me of the effort I’ve been putting in. From the soreness after each workout to the satisfaction of hitting new milestones, this journey has been both challenging and rewarding. I’ve been sticking to a routine of three days on and one day off, which has kept me consistent while also giving my body time to recover.

One thing I’ve noticed is how my body has started to sort of adapt to the workouts. The first couple of weeks were tough, with every muscle screaming for mercy, but now there’s a sense of progress. The exercises that felt uncomfortable at the beginning are starting to feel more manageable, and I’m a lot more motivated to keep pushing. It’s a reminder that progress takes time, and the little victories are worth celebrating.

The gym itself has its ups and downs. I’ve found that it can get pretty crowded, which sometimes throws off my routine and focus. There’s nothing more frustrating than waiting for a machine or trying to find space in a packed weight room. Because of this, I’ve realized that mornings are the best time to go, especially when it’s quieter, and I can focus on my workout without distractions. Unfortunately, my schedule only allows me to take advantage of the early morning calm on weekends, but those days have quickly become my favorite times to hit the gym.

Despite the challenges of finding the best time to work out and the initial aches and pains, this routine has become something I look forward to. The structure of three days in the gym followed by a rest day keeps me on track and motivated. The rest days are crucial, giving me a chance to recharge both mentally and physically, so I’m ready to hit it again with full energy. It’s a balance that’s working well for me, and I’m excited to see how much further I can go.

I did not hit my one-month mark yet, I still have about 4 day. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made. It’s been a journey of rediscovering my strength and resilience, and even though it hasn’t been easy, it’s been worth every drop of sweat. There’s a long road ahead, but with each day, I’m building a routine that’s not just about physical fitness but also about commitment and self-care. The gym is becoming a part of my life again, and I’m eager to see where this path leads.

Booty Building

Today’s leg day was a testament to how far I’ve come and how far I still have to go. Lets just say I still have a LONG way to go. I hit the gym with a plan and a determination to push my limits. The routine began with Romanian Deadlifts (RDLs), an annoying yet absolute must in my leg workouts. I’ve always appreciated the way RDLs engage the hamstrings and glutes, but today, each rep reminded me of how much strength I need to regain. My form was eh, but the weights felt heavier than I remembered. It’s clear that while muscle memory is a real thing, it needs a little time to catch up.

Next on the list were split squats, which are both a test of my strength and balance. With each lunge, I felt the burn in my quads and glutes, but also a humbling reminder of how important it is to build up endurance. The single-leg focus of split squats really makes you appreciate the balance between strength and stability, and I definitely felt the difference from when I was more consistently lifting. The discomfort was real, but so was the satisfaction of pushing through it. Just wait till leg day during that time of the month. Im sure my girlies know what I mean.

Hip abductors were up next, targeting those often-overlooked muscles that are crucial for overall leg strength. The isolation of this exercise is something I’m learning to embrace, even though it feels a bit less glamorous than the big lifts. The machine whirred and my legs burned, but it was a necessary part of the routine to help build a solid foundation. These by far are probably my favorite. It really makes a big difference in overall stability and strength, especially with how tight my hips get.

Front squats were the final challenge of the day. They’ve always been a tough lift for me, demanding both core strength and leg power. Today’s session was no exception. The weight felt heavy and I’m not just talking about mine lol, and the reps were tough, but I pushed through. My legs were screaming by the end, and I was reminded of how much work is needed to get back to my previous lifting levels. It was both a humbling and motivating experience.

To wrap up the workout, I hit the treadmill for a cool down. The steady pace helped to ease the muscle soreness and gave me a moment to reflect on the day's effort. It’s clear that getting back in shape is going to take time and dedication, but today was a solid step in that direction. The workout was tough, but each rep was a step closer to my goal.

In conclusion, going to the gym seems so much easier for me now (at least I think so). At work I was asked to take on a new schedule instead of my regular 9-5:30, I am switching to a 7:30-4. This will allow me to go to the gym, cook, and still be able to relax for the rest of the days. With bowling temporarily out of the picture I can focus more on my overall well-being mentally and physically. I am soooooo pumped.

One Step Back , Two Steps Forward

Bowling has always been a source of joy for me—a sport that combines skill, strategy, and social interaction in a way that few other activities can. I looked forward to the weekly league nights for spending time with friends and the unserious-serious competition made every strike and spare feel rewarding. But recently, something has shifted. What once brought me excitement now feels more like a burden, and I’ve come to the realization that it’s time for a change. That’s why I’ve decided to step back from the weekly league and take on the role of a sub instead.

This decision wasn’t easy. I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into the sport, and the commitment has always been a point of pride for me. However, the mental toll it has taken lately has outweighed the benefits. Week after week, I found myself dreading league night instead of looking forward to it. The pressure to perform consistently, combined with the demands of my personal and professional life, has left me feeling drained rather than energized. What was once a sport I loved has started to feel more like an obligation.

By stepping back and becoming a sub, I’m giving myself the space to rediscover the enjoyment I used to feel. As a sub, I can still participate in the league without the pressure of a full-time commitment. It allows me to bowl on my terms, when I feel ready and excited to do so, rather than forcing myself to show up out of a sense of duty. I believe this change will help me reconnect with the sport in a healthier, more sustainable way.

This break is also an opportunity for me to focus on other areas of my life that need attention. Whether it’s spending more time with loved ones, pursuing other hobbies, or simply giving myself a chance to relax, I know this decision will bring balance back into my routine. Bowling will always be there, and I can return to it full-time when it feels right again. For now, stepping back is the best thing I can do for my mental well-being.

Taking a break from something you love isn’t always a sign of defeat. Sometimes, it’s a necessary step to preserve that love and prevent burnout. I’m hopeful that by making this change, I’ll not only regain my passion for bowling but also improve my overall quality of life. And who knows? Maybe when I do step back into the league full-time, I’ll be better than ever.

Oregon

Visiting my best friend in Oregon was an unforgettable experience, and long overdue. It was packed with many fun activities and heartwarming moments. From the first day to the last, we made the most of our time. It was mostly filled with late nights but I tried to take in every minute of it. I just hope I can wake up early enough for work now.

On the first day, we went to a place called Next Level, a old school but not really old school place for video games and pinball machines. The nostalgia hit hard as we played games from my childhood like Marvel vs Capcom where I absolutely shit on Amber. We even tried some older pinball machines that were pretty nuts. During the same day we got sushi that I was desperately craving. Although it wasn’t as good as Genki Sushi, it was still decent and definitely beat Genki prices. Later, we enjoyed a nice meal at a Korean BBQ place. While it wasn’t all-you-can-eat, the quality made up for it, and the lack of sales tax was a nice bonus.

The second day was more laid-back but just as enjoyable. Amber and I decided to go to the local food trucks, where we found some amazing tacos at a great price. Afterward, we headed to Top Golf with some of their friends, had a few dranks, and watched the olympics while waiting for our bay.

Day three brought a unique experience since being in the states as we attended a Hawaiian festival. The atmosphere was fuckn electric, filled with music, dance, and so much aloha. Being surrounded by so much love and positive energy made my heart feel full and warm. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of community and the spirit of Hawaii, even so far from the islands.

On the fourth day, Amber had a surprise in store for me. We headed out to the sand dunes where I rode four-wheelers for the first time. It was a lot harder than it looked, but the challenge made it even more fun. We laughed at my initial struggles and celebrated my minor victories like getting into first gear. The atmosphere and the beach made it a day to remember.

My last day in Oregon was bittersweet. Their family made a delicious meal that reminded me of home, and it was the perfect way to wrap up my trip. Earlier that day we visited an interactive light museum called Hopscotch. The installations were beautiful, and it felt like we were walking through a dream. The vibrant colors and creative displays were a feast for the eyes and a perfect way to mess around and take our hot girl pics.

Overall, my trip to Oregon flew by, but every moment was worth it. Reconnecting with my best friends after so many years and picking up like we never left is always a pleasure. This trip was a beautiful reminder of the importance of being around those that lift you up and bring out the best side of you.

Consistency is Key

Yesterday, I set out for a walk with the intention of enjoying the fresh air and clearing my mind. I had planned to listen to a podcast during that time, but I ended up spending a good portion of the walk searching for the perfect one. It's incredible how much time you can spend scrolling through endless options, trying to find something that really piques your interest.

After what felt like forever, I finally stumbled upon an absolute BANGER: an episode of The Ed Mylett Show. The topic was all about how successful people achieve their full potential, and it immediately caught my attention. As I listened, I found myself resonating with the insights and advice shared. It was like a lightbulb moment, where so many things just clicked into place. The discussion covered various strategies for setting and achieving goals, maintaining a positive mindset, and overcoming obstacles—all essential elements for personal and professional growth.

One particular point that resonated with me was the emphasis on the power of routine and discipline. Successful individuals often have strict routines that they adhere to, which helps them stay focused and productive. They are willing to do the things that no one else will. This reminded me of the importance of consistency, something I've been working on in my own life, especially with activities like bowling.

After my walk, I took the opportunity to use my jump rope. It's been a while since I incorporated jump roping into my exercise routine, but I remembered how effective it is for both cardio and coordination. It felt great to combine the physical activity with the mental stimulation from the podcast. The rhythmic motion of jumping rope seemed to sync perfectly with the inspiring words I was hearing, creating a powerful and invigorating experience.

By the end of my workout , I felt a renewed sense of motivation and clarity. The insights from the podcast, coupled with the physical exercise, left me feeling energized and ready to tackle my goals with a fresh perspective. It was a reminder of the importance of finding balance in our daily routines and seeking out sources of inspiration that can help us grow.

All in all, what started as a simple walk turned into a profoundly enriching experience. I'm definitely going to keep The Ed Mylett Show in my podcast rotation and make jump roping a regular part of my exercise routine. Here's to more walks filled with discovery and growth!

Miss me again? 🤪

It's been over a month since my last blog post, and it's time to get back on track. Life has been busy, and I've let my blogging slide, but I know it's important to stay consistent and keep you all updated.

Life Update

First, a bit of exciting news: I was awarded Employee of the Month at my job, and I've only been there for less than two months! It feels amazing to be recognized so early on, and it's motivating me to keep pushing forward and doing my best.

I'm still bowling regularly, though I haven't been performing as well as I'd like. Consistency has been a challenge, with my scores fluctuating from week to week. It's frustrating, but I'm determined to keep practicing and improve my game.

MIA

As you know, I haven't posted anything for over a month. Between work and life, I've struggled to find the time and energy to write. But taking such a long break isn't doing me or my readers any favors. Blogging has always been a creative outlet for me, and it's time I get back into the groove.

Upcoming Festivities w Ambaaa

In less than a week, I'll be visiting my best friend in Oregon. I can't wait to spend time together, catch up, and enjoy the FOOOOOD. While I don't plan on posting much during my visit, I'll try to whip up some content while she's at school. It's all about finding those small windows of time and making the most of them while shes saving lives

Moving Forward

I know it won't be easy to stay consistent with all the festivities and activities coming up, but it's important to make an effort. Even if it's just a quick update or a short post, it's better than nothing. Plus, writing about my experiences and thoughts helps me reflect and stay connected with all of you.

Lastly

To anyone struggling with consistency, whether in work or personal goals, remember that progress is not always linear. There will be ups and downs, but the key is to keep moving forward. Celebrate the small victories, like being named Employee of the Month or hitting a new high score. Use those moments as fuel to keep going.

Stay committed, stay passionate, and don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned. We all have setbacks, but it's how we bounce back that defines us.

Thank you for sticking with me, and I promise to do better in keeping you all updated. Here's to achieving our goals, one step at a time! -Jordan Sparks

Level TF up

Lately, I've been making a concerted effort to cook more at home. This journey into home cooking has been incredibly rewarding, not just for my taste buds but also for my overall well-being. I find home cooked meals are so much more fulfilling and overall tastes better. There's something deeply satisfying about creating delicious meals from scratch in the comfort of your own kitchen. It’s a blend of creativity, patience, and a little bit of science, and it’s quickly becoming a favorite pastime of mine especially after work.

One of the game-changers in my kitchen has been the air fryer. This appliance has revolutionized the way I cook, making it easier and more fun. Among the various dishes I've tried, chicken wings have undeniably become the star of my air fryer meals. They come out perfect every single time—crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Whether I'm tossing them in mango habanero or dry rubbed, they never fail to impress. The best part? They're so much healthier than the deep-fried version, yet just as satisfying if not more.

Another favorite that has earned a regular spot in my meal rotation is bacon-wrapped asparagus. This dish is a fantastic example of how simple ingredients can come together to create something extraordinary. The air fryer cooks the bacon to crispy perfection while the asparagus retains its tender-crisp bite. It's a delightful combination of flavors and textures, making it a hit not only with me but also with anyone I happen to be sharing my meals with.

The journey of cooking at home has been an exciting exploration. Each meal is an opportunity to experiment with new recipes and techniques, pushing the boundaries of my culinary skills. It’s been a great way to unwind after a long day and to nourish both body and soul.

But as much as I’ve been enjoying my time in the kitchen, I have dedicated my efforts to travel more. I recently booked a flight to Oregon to see my best friend, whom I haven't seen in almost 4-5 years. The excitement is palpable. This trip is a much-anticipated reunion that we've both been looking forward to for so long. The prospect of catching up, reminiscing about old times, and creating new memories together fills my heart with immense joy. WE FINALLY OUT THE GROUP CHAT AMBER (kinda)

The combination of my newfound passion for home cooking and the upcoming trip has brought a renewed sense of excitement and purpose into my life. Cooking has given me a way to express creativity and take care of myself in a tangible, fulfilling way. Meanwhile, the trip to Oregon represents a long-awaited opportunity to reconnect with a dear friend and take a break from the daily grind. Not to mention I also booked my Vegas trip for October. That is a short trip but nonetheless I get to see family and friends and pahteh.

In the end, it’s about finding balance and joy in the simple things—whether it's the satisfaction of a perfectly cooked meal or the happiness that comes from reconnecting with loved ones. Life’s little pleasures, like mastering a new recipe or planning a trip, remind us of what truly matters. Here’s to leveling up opening my life to the things that matter most.

Balancing Work, Health, and Happiness

Sometimes, I wish I was one of those people who could wake up at 5 AM every day to workout and start my day off on the right foot. The reality, though, is that I often stay up late playing games, even on work days. My job can be demanding, with long hours that stretch to 9-10 hours a day and the expectation to get in an additional 4 hours of overtime each week. It’s a tough balance, and I often find myself feeling exhausted and out of sync. I leave work feeling EXHAUSTED. Staring at a screen all day is not fun nor is it good Luckily I have new glasses that will help with it.

But, I’ve decided it’s time to prioritize myself more. It’s easy to get caught up in the grind and forget about the things that truly bring me joy and fulfillment. I’m making a conscious effort to engage in hobbies and activities that make me happy. Whether it’s catching up with friends I haven’t seen in a while, getting more serious about jump roping so I can look like the other cuties, or hopefully traveling more, I want to fill my life with experiences that enrich my well-being.

Additionally, more than anything, I want to become closer to God and focus on my spiritual health. Strengthening my faith and dedicating time to reflect and pray can provide a sense of peace and purpose that’s often missing in the hustle and bustle of my life.

It’s not going to be easy to shift my habits and find a better balance, but I’m committed to making these changes. Maybe not 5am changes but prioritizing my health, happiness, and personal growth, I hope to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life. Here’s to a journey of self-improvement and discovering what truly matters.

S/O to AJ for these dope ass demon slayer funko pops!

GET UHHHP & GET YOUR BAG

In a world filled with distractions and challenges, staying focused and mentally tough can feel like an uphill battle. Yet, these qualities are essential for achieving your goals and living a fulfilling life. Here’s how you can cultivate and harness them to work on yourself and improve your well-being.

The Power of Focus

Focus is the cornerstone of success. When you concentrate your efforts on a specific goal, you channel your energy into productive actions. Here are some strategies to sharpen your focus:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define what you want to achieve with precision. Vague goals lead to vague results. Break your main objective into smaller, manageable tasks.

  2. Eliminate Distractions: Identify and remove anything that diverts your attention. This could mean turning off notifications, creating a dedicated workspace, or setting specific times for deep work.

  3. Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness techniques, such as meditation, can enhance your ability to concentrate. Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breath or a simple mantra to train your mind to stay present.

  4. Prioritize Your Tasks: Use techniques like the Eisenhower Matrix to determine which tasks are urgent and important. Focus on high-priority tasks first to make significant progress.

Building Mental Toughness

Mental toughness is the resilience and strength that keep you going, even when the going gets tough. Here’s how to build it:

  1. Embrace Challenges: View obstacles as opportunities to grow. Each challenge you overcome adds to your resilience.

  2. Develop a Growth Mindset: Believe in your ability to improve and learn from experiences. A growth mindset helps you see failure as a learning opportunity rather than a setback.

  3. Stay Positive: Cultivate optimism. Positive thinking doesn’t mean ignoring problems but rather approaching them with a can-do attitude.

  4. Practice Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness, especially in tough times. Acknowledge your efforts and forgive your mistakes, knowing that self-criticism can undermine your resilience.

Working on Yourself

Continuous self-improvement is key to staying focused and mentally tough. Here’s how you can make self-improvement a habit:

  1. Set Personal Development Goals: Identify areas you want to improve, whether it’s learning a new skill, improving your physical health, or developing emotional intelligence.

  2. Create a Routine: Consistency is crucial for self-improvement. Establish a daily routine that includes activities like reading, exercising, and reflecting on your progress.

  3. Seek Feedback: Constructive feedback from others can provide valuable insights. Be open to criticism and use it to make positive changes.

  4. Reflect Regularly: Take time to reflect on your journey. Journaling can be a powerful tool to understand your thoughts, track your progress, and stay motivated.

Improving Your Well-Being

Your overall well-being significantly impacts your ability to stay focused and mentally tough. Here are some ways to enhance it:

  1. Prioritize Physical Health: Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep are fundamental to maintaining your energy and focus. Physical well-being is closely linked to mental resilience.

  2. Nurture Relationships: Strong social connections provide support and reduce stress. Spend quality time with loved ones and build a network of supportive individuals.

  3. Manage Stress: Develop stress management techniques such as deep breathing, yoga, or engaging in hobbies. Reducing stress helps maintain mental clarity and emotional stability.

  4. Pursue What You Love: Engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. Passion fuels motivation and perseverance.

Conclusion

Staying focused and mentally tough is a journey that requires dedication and effort. By setting clear goals, embracing challenges, and continuously working on yourself, you can build the resilience needed to achieve your dreams. Remember, improving your well-being is not just about achieving external success but also about fostering a fulfilling and balanced life. Stay committed, be kind to yourself, and keep moving forward. Your goals are within reach.

New Beginnings

It’s been about a month since my last post and I am disappointed in myself for the inconsistency I’ve portrayed. But its been BUSY. I switched jobs and got the job that paid better, was much closer to my apartment and got all the benefits. But starting a new job can feel like stepping into a whole new world, especially when it's all about fixing foundations and keeping homes dry with Helitech. My beginning here was a mix of excitement and anxiety, especially with so many calls flooding in because of the heavy rains. Learning the ropes was key to handling all of this. Being that I was so comfortable in my previous position, I did not feel comfortable or have the energy to repeat the process of getting to know my coworkers again, getting comfortable in my setting, and navigating an entirely new system.

In my first few days, things were super busy, with phones ringing off the hook. It was clear I needed to learn a lot to help out and serve our customers well. So, I dove into training to get the know-how. I am thankful that the ladies in my position have been nothing short of helpful during this transition and busy days which put my anxiety at ease.

But let me tell you, training wasn't a walk in the park. It was like trying to drink from a firehose, with so much information coming at me in just four days. I had to soak up everything about how to do the work right, from technical stuff to safety rules, and it wasn't easy to remember it all. I was put on the phone for the first time and instantly froze. It’s like I forgot everything in training when the lights turned on. After booking my first appointment with a client I felt better but there were a lot of difficult customers that I had to deal with as well. It is a very fast-paced environment but I think I was able to handle that pretty well.

Even though training was tough, I realized it was super important. It gave me a solid base to build on. Day by day, I got better at understanding how to fix different kinds of foundations and do the job safely. Not to mention, my office space is DOPE. I would call it a cubical but it is nicer than a cubical. With my own cute lil name plate and all hung on the wall. They that all ready for me in the time I was training and it was a nice feeling. It is an even better feeling being surrounded by people and management that are thankful for the work we do as individuals and how much we add to the company and its growth. I feel like I am in a good spot and just need to keep going through this first part of hardship before it gets better.

When I finally got out into the field, it was a whole new ball game. But because of my training, I was ready for the challenges. I used what I'd learned during that time and from my previous role to tackle problems on the job, and it paid off. I was able to do my work well and even impress my team.

Looking back, I see how vital that training was. It wasn't always easy, but it set me up for success in my new role. I'm grateful for the chance to learn and grow with Helitech, and I can't wait to see what's next.

Switchin It Up

Finding the motivation to write every other day is pretty tough. Sometimes, I just don’t feel like it but most of the time I don’t even realize that 3 days has passed before I could write something else. Here is a little update of what went down the last week. After spending a little over a year at my job, I've decided it's time for a change – and let me tell you, it's been quite the journey! Before I get into the details, let's talk about the stress and mixed emotions I've been feeling.

Working here has been like being part of a big family. Seriously, the people I've met and the friendships I've made have made every day feel easy, especially when things got tough. It's been a pretty nice time, to say the least!

But you know what? Behind the scenes, it hasn't always been smooth sailing. Like most companies, it's been pretty darn stressful at times. Deadlines, projects, and the pressure to perform – it's all been part of the daily routine. Yet, somehow, with the chaos, we've managed to find moments of laughter and support that have made it all bearable.

Now, I've got this amazing opportunity closing in, and I just can't ignore it. I was able to find a job that's not only closer to where I live but also comes with some seriously awesome perks. We're talking about benefits and career prospects that have got me feeling excited and ready to grow both personally and professionally.

Leaving this place and the people I've come to know? Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer, I won't lie. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when you've built such strong bonds. But you know what they say – sometimes, you got to take a leap of faith for your own growth.

So, as I get ready to take on this new chapter in my life, I'm feeling a mix of emotions – sadness to leave, but also excitement for what's to come. Here's to new beginnings, unforgettable memories, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead. We only going up from here.

Rolling Strikes and Rolling Eyes Pt. 2

Let me tell you about the fun times my friends and I had at Aj's grandma's house every Saturday night after bowling. Aj's grandma cooked amazing Filipino food for us every night and made us breakfast every morning. We loved eating together and eating in general. We laughed a lot and of course, had a great time. From the beginning, a lot of my best moments were spent there with my friends. At this point, Ryan hasn’t joined the party yet because he’s a hard-working guy and works for HOURS. We would ask him to hang out even though we would get the same answer, we would still want him there.

In this series, I am only going to name-drop Aj, Bryce, and Ryan. I want to name-drop some people but I can’t and it is probably for the best. If you know, you know.

Even though we had some mishaps, we were good at bowling, and other people in our league wanted to hang out with us. But we liked keeping our group small because we were close friends. When we did hang out with certain people some things didn't go as planned, like when I accidentally clogged the toilet and his grandma didn’t have a plunger so Aj had to go to Walmart in the middle of the night to buy one. This other time, I let someone drive Aj’s car when we went to get McDonald’s. The car overheated on the way back to his house so we couldn’t use it the next day and had to use his dad’s car instead. Come to think of it, am I the problem? nah. Some might call that irresponsible of me, but I see it as a laughing matter now. Amiright Aj? lmao

Here’s another funny story: Bryce always wanted to play games like hide-and-seek or tag at the park near Aj's grandma’s house, but only at night. We were never too excited about his idea. And when I say never, I mean NEVER. Bryce loved the night despite his sudden urge to knock out. Every Saturday night, he'd suggest going to the park at 9 pm. But Aj and I weren't about that, we just wanted to hang out in the house where it’s safe. The park was kind of sketchy at night but the boys always made me feel safe regardless.

"We'd rather not, Bryce" Aj would say, trying not to laugh.

I'd agree, "Yeah, then we gonna get all sweaty and have to shower again"

But Bryce was determined. He thought it would be fun having me chase him in the dark in my volcom slippers.

"Why do you hate me!?" Bryce would say, trying to convince us.

Sometimes, we'd agree, knowing we can’t convince him otherwise. We also knew that if we didn’t he would go straight to sleep and we won’t hear a word from him till the morning. So, we'd head to the park at night, feeling a mix of excitement and complaining. Bryce would lead the way all eager and shit. We would end up having a lot of fun but still, we were sweaty and dirty by 10 pm. Despite our doubts, Bryce's nighttime games brought us closer as friends and made more memories of those times we spent in Makakilo.

So, here's to Bryce, the brave and sleepy leader of our nighttime adventures, and to the laughs and excitement we shared in the dark. Throughout all the ups and downs, our friendship stayed strong. Aj's grandma's house was like a safe place for us, where we could have fun and be ourselves.

Rolling Strikes and Rolling Eyes— Pt.1

This series is inspired by Aj, who said it would be nice to write about all the hood-rat shii we went through during our time in junior bowling. I always told him not to bring up the past if it was something that impacted us in a negative way. So, I will leave all of that unnecessary drama and trauma out.

It all started in Aiea, Hawaii, where the Aiea Whiz Kids Bowling League welcomed me with open arms back in 2008. Bowling really was not a big thing in Hawaii growing up. Although it was introduced as a high school sport, the sport itself did not have that big of a crowd. My family was really big on bowling and my mom is a very respected female bowler which made my job a little harder to always try to beat her. Overall, it was always friendly competition. Saturdays was where the real fun was though. It was where me and my friends hung out. Not to brag because we love a humble queen, but we were the people that everyone wanted to be around.

After bowling we would always go to Aj’s grandma’s house and hangout. His grandma always made sure we were fed and LOVED to cook for us. There were 2 things we tried to achieve after bowling every Saturday. 1) a way to not go home so we can hangout. and 2) trying to find a way to keep Bryce awake. It was always a good time so shoutout to Ajs grandma because her house was THE SPOT.

Past all the bowling, there was so much drama! From crushes on boys to friendly rivalries with other alleys, it was never dull. Through it all, though, we stuck together and supported each other. This also created a lot of separation between “friends”. I can honestly say I hang out with less than 50% of the people I did then. But I am so thankful to the ones who stayed.

Thinking back, those days were filled with a lot of laughs and good times. Even though we're all grown up now, the friendships we made on those bowling lanes will always be special. I have met my best friends who became family to me and that was probably my greatest takeaway. In my next posts I will talk about some of the things we did. This was just an intro sooooo stayed tuned!

Happy Monday!

Life's journey is full of unexpected twists and turns, and just when we think we're cruising smoothly along the path, we're often blindsided by unforeseen challenges. It's during these moments of adversity that we find ourselves asking, "Why me?" and start to miss the easier days of being carefree, living rent free, and really enjoying time. I am still young, but I feel as if I am behind even when I know that is not the case.

The spectrum of life's challenges is vast and varied. From financial hardships to the dissolution of a relationship, from grappling with health issues to facing unforeseen setbacks, each obstacle presents its own unique set of trials and tribulations. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, to question our own strength, and to wonder how much more we can endure.

Yet, within each of us lies an untapped reservoir of resilience. It's the quiet strength that propels us forward, even when every piece of our body screams to give up. It's the unwavering determination that refuses to let adversity define us, but instead shapes us into something stronger, more resilient, and more compassionate.

In the face of adversity, we often discover depths of courage we never knew we possessed. We find solace in the unwavering support of friends, family, and loved ones who stand by our side, offering a helping hand or a listening ear when we need it most. And though the road may be long and arduous, we press on, fueled by the belief that every obstacle is an opportunity for growth and self-discovery.

It's important to remember that tough times, no matter how insurmountable they may seem, are temporary. They are but fleeting events of life, destined to pass as swiftly as they arrived. And when they do, we emerge not as victims, but as victors—stronger, wiser, and more resilient than before. I made a promise to myself to channel my appreciation towards the things I have instead of recognizing the things I don’t because those will come.

So, the next time life throws you a curveball, take a moment to breathe. Remind yourself of the strength that lies within you, waiting to be unleashed. Lean on those who love and support you, and remember that you are never alone in your struggles.

Life's journey may be fraught with challenges, but it's also brimming with moments of joy, love, and triumph. Embrace the hurdles, for they are the crucible in which our resilience is forged. And remember, no matter how dark the night may seem, the dawn always brings with it a new day filled with endless possibilities.

Bowling and its BS

Last night's bowling league session was a freaking trip. It was quite a change from my recent successes where I'd been throwing 690 and up the last couple of weeks. But last night, I just couldn't seem to knock down the 10 pin or 7 pin, no matter how hard I tried. If I had to rate my performance, I would probably say I felt like a 7/10. The difference was my thumb not fitting into my other ball properly due to the core swelling. Must be a Storm thing because only my Storm balls swell then my thumbs don’t fit. To top it off, I left a 7-10 solid af so it’s just confusing trying to make moves and getting shit carry.

However, after the initial disappointment wore off, I realized there were some important lessons to be learned from the tough night. It reminded me that bowling, like life, is full of surprises and challenges. It also highlighted the importance of being able to adapt and improve continuously. So, I decided to make the most of the experience by committing to spend more time practicing my spare shots. Lol we shall see about that. The night consisted of my boyfriend upset at his bowling and myself also upset so if we both are upset then that’s a recipe for disaster. So, I took my 600 and remained levelheaded for the both of us.

Despite the setbacks, I also tried to focus on the positive aspects of the evening. I reminded myself of the passion I have for bowling and the occasional great shots I did manage to make. It made me realize that even when things don't go as planned, there's always something to appreciate and learn from. In the end, while it was a tough night, it served as a valuable reminder of the resilience needed in both bowling and life, and the importance of facing challenges with determination and optimism. As cheesy as it sounds, I don’t want to always be bitter here. I want to be able to enlight and learn from my experiences to be better in the future in every aspect.

Weekend Hustle

You might be surprised to hear that I've come to enjoy working on Saturdays. While it might sound counterintuitive to enjoy spending a weekend day at the office, there's something uniquely satisfying about the calm, the focus, and the opportunity it brings. Not to mention at least I am getting paid for doing minimal work.

Picture this: Saturday morning rolls around, and instead of lazing around at home or rushing through cleaning, I head to work. And you know what? It's not half bad. In fact, it's become a time I look forward to sometimes. Let me walk you through why.

First off, there's this calm atmosphere that is my office. With most of my colleagues taking the day off, the usual hustle and bustle are replaced by a quietness that doesn’t really stress me out as much. It's like having the whole place to myself, because I do literally have it to myself. I can spread out, get comfortable, and dive into my tasks without any distractions.

Speaking of tasks, Saturdays are when I get to tackle all those things that have been lingering on my to-do list. Whether it's organizing files, updating spreadsheets, or drafting important emails, I have the uninterrupted time I need to really focus and get things done. Organizing the files I have is the most time-consuming thing so I leave it to the end of the week as I can use up my time a little quicker. It's amazing how much I can accomplish when I'm not constantly being pulled in different directions and when customers or coworkers are asking me for things.

And then there's the joy of catching up on my own work. During the busy weekdays, it's easy for personal projects to get pushed aside in favor of more pressing matters. But on Saturdays, I have the freedom to devote my attention to whatever needs my TLC. It could be a passion project, a side hustle, or even just some personal admin tasks that have been piling up. Whatever it is, I relish the opportunity to make progress and move things forward.

Of course, it's not all nose-to-the-grindstone. One of the perks of Saturdays at work is the leisurely pace. Sure, I have my responsibilities, like answering the occasional phone call from customers, but for the most part, it's pretty quiet. I can take breaks when I want, enjoy a snack, and maybe even sneak in a game on my switch. It's like having the best of both worlds—productivity and relaxation.

So, while it might seem strange to some, I've come to appreciate the peace and productivity that Saturdays at work afford me. It's become a time for me to recharge, refocus, and set myself up for success in the week ahead. Who knew that embracing the weekend hustle could lead to such a sense of fulfillment?

On a roll

Bowling has been a real up-and-down journey for me. Sometimes I feel like I'm winning and throwing it great, but other times, I can't seem to get it right. But there's one special night each week when everything clicks: Wednesday night league.

Last Wednesday, and probably the past 4 or 5 Wednesday nights. I went in feeling exhausted and just ready to get it over with, like usual. But this time, things just seemed to go my way. Although I tried out new balls, it seemed like I still had it figured out. We bowled three games, and I was able to still shoot a nice 690 (would have been higher but we had already lost). All in all, the last couple of Wednesday nights have been great for me.

But here's the wild part—when I bowl in tournaments or other places, it's like I forget how to throw a ball. The things that work for me on Wednesdays suddenly don't work at all. It's super frustrating and disheartening.

So, why is there such a big difference? Well, I think part of it is because Wednesday nights are just more fun. I'm with friends, and there's no pressure to be perfect. Overall I am more relaxed since I am surrounded by good company and maybe have a drink or two. But in tournaments, it's a different story. Despite being able to throw it well I feel like I have to be amazing and continue that same feeling. That pressure messes with my head and definitely does not help when sometimes there is money on the line.

But maybe it's not just about the pressure. Maybe it's also about how I think about things. Instead of focusing on what I'm doing wrong, I need to focus on what I'm doing right and learn from every game, good or bad. I think there shouldn’t be any reason why one day I feel good then the next I am uncomfortable. Sticking to what feels right and keeping it simple will help to remain in the moment and focus on the present.

So, even though bowling can be tough sometimes, I'm not giving up completely. I'll keep playing, keep learning, and keep getting better. And who knows? Maybe next time, I'll win something again.

Overcoming Adversity: Use your words not your fists

We've all had those days at work where it feels like the universe is conspiring against us. Whether it's a string of unexpected tech issues, a mountain of angry customers and emails, or just a general feeling of overwhelm, bad days happen to the best of us. But the good news is, you don't have to always let them get the best of you. Sometimes I feel like walking out of work without an explanation but that would not be right.

First things first, when you find yourself in the midst of a bad work day, it's important to take a step back and gain some perspective. I sat in my office trying so hard not to hit the wall or kick my chair for how bad I was pissed. Just remind yourself that one bad day doesn't define your entire career or your worth as an employee. It's just a bump in the road, and you have the resilience and the skills to navigate through it.

Once you've taken a moment to collect yourself, focus on what you can control. While you might not be able to prevent every tech glitch or avoid every last-minute request from your boss, you can control your reaction and how you choose to tackle your tasks. By focusing your energy on the things you can influence, rather than dwelling on the things you can't, you'll regain a sense of agency and empowerment.

Another important aspect of overcoming bad work days is practicing self-compassion. It's easy to be hard on yourself when things aren't going your way, but remember that you're only human. Everyone has off days, and it's okay to cut yourself some slack. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer to a friend in a similar situation.

In addition to being kind to yourself, it's also helpful to break your tasks down into smaller, more manageable steps. When you're feeling overwhelmed, the thought of tackling a big project can be daunting. But by breaking it down into smaller chunks and focusing on one task at a time, you'll find that it's much more manageable. Plus, completing each small step will give you a sense of accomplishment and momentum to carry you through the rest of the day.

Lastly, don't be afraid to reach out for support when you need it. Whether it's talking things out with a coworker, venting to a friend, or seeking guidance from a mentor, connecting with others can provide valuable perspective and encouragement. Shout out to Adrain for always letting me vent and letting me go off and my job. At the end of the day, take some time to reflect on what went wrong and what you can learn from the experience. Every bad day is an opportunity for growth and self-improvement, so embrace it as a chance to become even stronger and more resilient in the face of adversity.
